Where'd you go?
I missed you so.
And maybe you did, but this song holds more true for the military. It's not a secret that I am a veteran. And this Sunday is Veteran's Day. The 11th day on the 11th month at the 11th hour.
To some this is just a Monday off, to me it means so much more.
It's a time to celebrate and remember those who walked my path years before I did. To those in the military that set standards, and then exceeded them. To remember some of the men and women that tried to help others and to some that lost their lives helping those. To the men and women that run through bullets to rescue a man or woman and that they might live another day.
It's a time to remember those that passed away trying to keep our country safe. If they didn't do what they did, we wouldn't be able to live the lives we do.
Have you ever stopped to think about that? What if Hitler won the war? Or if the South won the war? Or if Japan did? Where would we be if things were different? Would you be able to walk down the street breathing the air of freedom like you do?
Just remember that people sacrificed. And before you call us killers, not all of us are and sometimes it's necessity.
And yes, we sacrificed. Long hours at work, long deployments and time away from families. Men have missed the birth of their children. Women have missed their kids birthdays. We've missed holidays and weddings just to ensure the safety of this fine country.
So on Sunday, please thank a veteran whether you know them or not. Just a simple thanks makes someone's day.
