Honesty is always the best policy
So, you’ve decided on an online dating site, just to try it out. Now it’s all about filling out your profile. Never use your name on your profile. You have to just be careful with online dating. Never know what kind of crazy will message you. There is an option where you can hide your name. Use it! Above all, honesty is the best policy.
Pick out a catchy title/username. Mine is Broken Princess on one site and Shattered Princess on another. On some, like POF, you have the option of picking a headline as well. Always use something that will capture attention. A picture is worth a 1000 words but it is also what you say. A good guy could swipe left just because you had a generic name, like POF1234.
Most sites want a lot of info on you, such as age, location, sex, how much you make, dog or cat person. Use your discretion, but some of that you can leave blank. Never lie about your age and please post current pictures.
Pictures can spark a conversation. But post ones that have happened in the last year. Why? Well let’s just say that if you post a really good pic of you from 10 years ago, but don’t look anything like that, you are misleading people. Yeah, I get it hair color changes, which is minor compared to losing or gaining weight, as is my case.
No matter what, honesty is still the best policy. Do not lie about your age, or your interests, or what you look like. You could be like me, 40, but look late 20s, early 30s. Doesn’t mean I’m going to say that I’m younger. Lies will always come to bite you in the ass.
Catfishing has become a big problem. Catfishing is where someone pretends to be someone else and leads you on.
When you lie, it leads to problems. It gets hard trying to keep up with lies. Oh, and there is no such thing as a Navy Seal Ranger. But to that guy that claims to be, maybe he will come across this blog and take heed of what I’m saying: honesty is the best policy, even if you are guarded. I don’t give out too much information and I leave a conversation if I don’t think it’s appropriate. Nothing wrong with that.
PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON’T SEND DICK PICS OR BOOBIE PICS. Guys keep your tic tac in your pants.
